Switch firms or find another partner to work for
Suggest networking with other partners in your group to see what opportunities they have to offer and if any are of interest to you. The talk with your RL/Coach (assuming it’s not the same partner your referencing) and express that you want to explore these opportunities as they are likely to align with your long term career goals. They might push business needs as an excuse but don’t fall for it.
Sounds like you enjoy PA, so why not find another firm? Or figure out if you can wait it out until the partner retires/quits. Sad to say, but at Mgr+ level, it's hard to say "I want to work with a different partner"...unless they're violating some HR policy.
Go to ethics and compliance as I am sure others have similar complaints. It is completely anonymous and you will be protected from any repurcussions. If others have issues and you just leave or drop bombs on way out / you are not helping to build our culture. If you also tell someone in HC with specifics they are on notice and just report bad behavior if it is arguably unethical. We have a damn good process in place that protects our people and it works
Don’t ever discourage someone from reaching out to E&C, that’s a rookie move. Let E&C decide what’s appropriate.
Switch firms. I know some people mentioned trying to work under a different partner, but that may not be easy depending on the size of your current firm, and the partner you work under now may not take it well. I wasn’t particularly happy with some of the people I worked for at my old firm, but I really like public accounting, so I switched.
If you have a scheduler or mentor, reach out and see if you can be reassigned.
Switch firms. Dm me if you want to chat about cohnreznick specifically, but all firms are hiring these days!
