I am Indian too. And lets be real. We are more racist than anyone. We want all our gore neighbors to like us but the moment our desi kid makes a black friend, we want him to stop hanging with that kid. The moment we start seeing Mexican or black kids in our kids’ school, we want to move. As long as our Indian kid is dating a gori or gora, we are fine but if it is other race then we have a family crisis.
And don’t get me started on our ignorant intolerance for gays and lesbians.
So cool it on racism. All people are doing is calling out abuse of the visa.
You and I know that our Indian consulting firms have been abusing H1 visa for decades. In fact to a point where it is used as a mean for modern day white collar abuse by paying low wages, no promotions, and threats to send them back if they don’t work long hours.
Abuse is getting addressed. Thats it.
If you want an AI engineer then bring them, they are getting paid a ton here, so you pay 100k fee and it is worth it. But don’t bring a QA tester, that is cheap labor loophole. Give that job to a college graduate from US.

I work in FS/banking in the U.S. Literally , most of the new hires in Tech and Ops and other areas are all indians (AI); I'm not sure where they come from in the last few years, and it is getting out of the hands. If you are in the corp setting, it is fairly obvious, and you can not miss the trend. They hire and promote their own, crowding out the candidates and college graduates who are left out in cold and arguably just as qualified. Some companies are clearly abusing the H1-B program; it is a known fact, and changes are needed.

Let them pay $100k. If the employee brings an extra $100k of value which they might, and companies will happily pay it. The issue isn’t just the cheaper employees, H1Bs also bring a toxic culture to American companies. Same experience over multiple companies of Indians getting hired in and then only hiring only other Indians, coincidence? I don’t think so. They come in as “captive” employees, willing to work non-stop, over weekends, holidays, never say no because they pretty much have to. Now, as a manager would you want an Indian that can’t say no with a cheaper wage or a “lazy” American who doesn’t want to work over Christmas and believes in some semblance of work life balance all else equal?
My friend, I say this as a minority but America is maybe the least racist of many countries. Indian countries are way more racist in words and practice.
How do you think Indians would act if it was the other way around during a time that people of that country are trying to find jobs?
The American Dream doesn’t mean coming here on a work visa so tech CEOs can lower their operational costs, not assimilating, not tipping, driving up housing costs, then calling Americans racist if they don’t like you. Nobody wants you here

Trump is an idiot. Mexican Immigrants are taking up the jobs no one wants. Indians are flooding the tech market and taking up the six figure jobs.
Anyone who works hard and well gets my respect. I don’t care where they are from.
Most americans tech workers are going to lose their jobs, so argument is that those individuals should stay india, instead coming to america to do the exact samething as in india.

H1b was created in good faith however in the last 10 years Telugu IT consultancies and WITCH companies have abused the system such that both bernie and Donald are against H1b jobs right now
I doubt that most companies will pay $100K. But I understand existing visa holders won't be impacted.
