Travel varies on your assignment. In 5 years I never went over 50%, since covid it has been 0%. Professional services/advisory is growing rapidly so there is a lot of long term potential for growth- a lot of the early PAs are now VPs or Senior Directors. I have been promoted twice in my time here.
The biggest difference from other consulting firms is that in many situations you have a much smaller team. In some cases just you. This gives a different dynamic at the client instead of an ‘us’ vs ‘them’ mentality you see on a lot of projects a PA can be fully engrained with the client. For multi-year deals you might feel more like an employee of the client then of Salesforce.
I think it is way better. It is actually really common that we work with our consulting vendors at clients. It is really nice as you get to focus on the critical stuff and all that low level bs get handed to consulting team. At this point in my career I am interested in high level architecture and big picture then debating small stupid details.
My TC is also way better with the stock growth. I would need to basically come in at partner at the majority of SI’s.
