Thinking about applying for a mid-sized firm for a general tax role. I like PwC, but it is too specialized so I feel like my exit options are limited since I don't have a broad tax experience. Advice?

Same thing I felt. I haven’t been here too long so I cant say, but overall I like the experiences I’m getting so far better than I had before in B4

I second this from an audit perspective

I work at PwC and found the same thing. Half of my career has been spent working in a niche specialty group and now I feel like I don’t have any exit opportunities so I want to switch to a mid-sized firm.

Same here. I feel pigeonholed

Thanks guys. I guess I am not alone. Alternatively, I am looking into a role in industry. Not many jobs available, but I will keep trying both in industry and mid-sized firms. Good luck to us all!

My book is just spec and side projects. I’m trying to get a new junior-to-mid role because I’ve gotten nothing good produced where I’m at, and I have zero faith this will change if I stick around.

I’m asked for work samples from recruiters and CDs even though I make clear that what I’ve done doesn’t reflect who I am as a creative. Think CRM/DM/B2B stuff. They insist on it, and I never hear back afterwards.

Not sure what to do. Almost feel like I’d be better off erasing my agency experience.

I can really use some direction. My background, I've worked 2 years in strategy and am currently coming off an exhausting year 2 in investment banking. I didn't particularly enjoy either role and am not interested in moving over to the buy-side or some monotonous FP&A role. Everybody says there's exit-ops aplenty, but I find myself with less options and even more picky than I did as an ambitious T2 undergrad student. Where do I go from here?

My total YoE is 14 years. I know pretty long stay in TCS. I am happy with the work though I am not a project lead or in some manager position. Got onsite opportunity almost 7 years in support project. But some time seeing my x-teammates who have changed many companies and now in better position, feeling like I would have moved out instead of sticking to 1 company. Now decided I have to come out from this comfort zone. I know it is possible but worried a bit with my exp. I need you guys advice..Plz

Someone on LinkedIn expressed disappointment about the lack of diversity from the big law firms in TX that were posting pics of their summer associates. A managing partner commented that he thought the post might be about a pic he posted (12/14 SAs were white). He tried to defend this by saying that they had LGBT and socioeconomic diversity. The fact that he recognized that his pic might be part of the problem says it all. Law firms need to do better. Sorry, I just wanted to rant.
