No real cons above the $150 fee. Still the gold standard for travel cards
Probably meant effective annual fee, since it’s extremely easy to use the $300 travel credit
It all comes down to where your spend is / what perks you want. CSR is awesome for misc travel and protections and ok for dining
Amex gold lost value recently by restricting the ability to purchase gift cards with airline credit
It’s a very good card. Would recommend checking out the “chase trifecta”. You may wanna add another card later (chase freedom or freedom unlimited) to maximize point value.
If you fly delta a ton or have an centurion lounge in your airport, the AMEX platinum is also an option. Could combine with gold Amex to maximize points (gold earns 4x on dining and grocery stores, platinum is 5x in travel). Add an everyday Amex for the “Amex Trifecta”
Hmm a friend told me about the “chase trifecta” to maximize point value as well. I currently have the regular corporate AMEX and I only need just one credit card (I don’t do a lot of heavy spending) so I’m hoping the CSR will be good for me
