Thinking of starting my own SDVOSB firm 4-6 years from now, and want to take courses that will help. I'm thinking practical courses like what Shipley Associates offers.

Who has experience opening their own firm, and what advice do you have in general?

Additionally, has anyone taken useful courses that accept the GI Bill? Trying to convert to Voc Rehab so I could effectively take an unlimited number of courses.

Uhh what type of firm?

I'm a business owner but don't care about that VOSB stuff. It's my side job but still doing pretty good.

like

That's a good point K1, guess I was just hoping someone had done this before and could give more holistic feedback, such as which courses hadn't been worth it, who does or doesn't work well with VA's slow payments, etc

In addition to this, have you sought out mentor/protégé programs at larger firms? I’ve heard of programs where larger firms will help you stand up and establish SDVOSBs.

Not yet, but MPJVs are very much on my radar. I've been a part of several of them on the side of the larger business and get the strategy behind it.
