It won’t change without some turnover and rationalization at the partner level in P&T. We’re so top heavy and with a lot of underachieving partners worried about self-preservation so they protect their small groups and don’t make meaningful changes that can be risky. Fixing this has to start at the top.
So basically P&T is pretending to be a software dev org but in reality it’s far from it. Now I really feel like I’m wasting my time here at P&T.
I do think the cohort model is maybe just a bit too restrictive/formulaic for a “tech” or software dev company/department
I feel like it lends itself more to audit/consulting where the model is so heavily
“bring in new hires, pay then just enough not to leave, and progress quickly assuming a high turnover year over year”
I can’t see that working all that well in software. But maybe I’m wrong
(Also not pleased I also didn’t get a raise and the “transition payment” is garbage/insultingly low)
if people in P&T could have made it to tech companies they would have left by now. The only tech companies willing to hire them (if they haven't left already) are outside Top 20 and PWC still pays as much if not more than those companies.
Rising Star
Tech was hiring like crazy … one of the most lucrative hiring sprees in years. Joe told everyone to trust the process. That we’d be benchmarked against tech and it would work out. To be patient.
People waited. A long time. And trusted the process. Then the new comp dropped, and it was trash. And now tech is freezing or slowing hiring.
Some of our people may be at tech, but they trusted the process and were shafted. People have a right to be frustrated or angry. “iF YoU cOuLd bE At TeCh YoU aLrEaDy wOuLd Be” is lazy.
