This job market is going to be my cause of death. I can't do this anymore. I honestly don't even like life, so why do I need to subject myself to this impossible Hunger Games job market, to move forward in a life I don't even enjoy? It's not worth it, and I'm at the end of my rope after 2 years of sending over a thousand applications, going back to school part time, and still being unemployed. Therapy hasn’t helped one bit & taking meds feels like I’m popping tic tacs for all it does. I'm done.

I feel exactly the same. 25+ years of experience and can't get squat. Had to take time out of working life to be a caretaker for sick people. Not w, they're all dead as is my savings. Basically homekess, if it weren't for a good friend. when my boyfriend passed away his kids noted me right out, took our vehicle. You name it. Can't seem to gain any ground. Been told flat out, you're over quality tied or too old. You'll just move on after a few weeks. Blah blah blah it just sucks. Now with the ebony and gment shutdown even food stamps are going to be a challenge

I hear you. I have never in my life felt more alone than I do now. The job market stinks and I stay up late into the nights looking. I don't know who I am anymore. I'm working on my own healing, but daily it's a struggle.

I hear you. I am sharing the same thing. It seems that this is the other part of life, to make us whole.
They say we are here to learn all that we can. That would include doubt. I have been let down so much that now I expect to continue to be let down.
I do stay focused and I am doing everything possible to turn this thing around. I know that my persistence shall prevail.

Hey, I’m really sorry you’re feeling like this. It sounds like you’ve been fighting so hard for so long, and it’s completely understandable that you’re exhausted. You don’t deserve to feel like this alone.

I know it might not feel like it right now, but you’re not broken or beyond help — burnout and despair can make everything feel impossible. Please, if you can, reach out to someone right now. If you’re in the U.S., you can call or text 988 to reach the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline — they’re there 24/7, and you don’t have to be in crisis to talk.

If you’re outside the U.S., you can find international hotlines here: [findahelpline.com], which lists numbers in your country.

You deserve support and understanding — not to carry this pain by yourself.

I keep reminding myself that this is just a phase that I am going through.
The pendulum of fate swings both ways.
I am just having difficulties waiting for things to get better.

You’re right that the job route of submitting applications is dumb right now. It’s flooded with applicants so the numbers work against you. Try a different route. Instead, focus on building your network. Ask for coffee dates or 20 min Zoom meetings. Use that time not asking for jobs but asking these people to be your sounding board. Explain your skills and areas of interest but your recognition that traditional employment doesn’t seem to be a viable path right now so you’d like to get creative ideas on how to pivot. Target people who at some point were self-employed, joined a start-up, served in a fractional capacity, or completely changed industries. And don’t worry about a cold tap to connect - explaining your desire to learn and only asking for a short period of time, I’m sure they will oblige! Always end the meeting asking who that person would recommend you reach to next. Do this in spades and organically you will either reach clarity about new paths you want to pursue or an opportunity will arrive at your doorstep. You’ll find a lot of emotional and mental support along the way too.

Step back from the goal to get hired. Instead pursue the goal of finding focus and excitement again.

Good idea - locally there were job hunting groups that met in the morning to get people fired up - I suspect these may still be happening but it allowed people to bounce ideas off each other. Many of them were held in the community rooms of local public libraries or local churches. Google it. If what you're doing isn't working now you need to think out of the box and try something else and this might be the ticket. If I found myself without work that's what I would do.

I can feel your disappointment.
I have a friend and she is quoted to say her husband wanted money so bad that he scared it away.
He would completely consume himself with ways and means to coherse intimidate manipulate schemes and leverage as different angles to attract money. He scared it away
I am doing everything that I am able to do to fix my similar problem that you are experiencing.
My heart has been broken and my ability to trust has been diminished.
The good news is that tomorrow I get to try all over again.
And by golly that's alright with me. Sooner or later me and my little brain is going to get it right. And maybe that just might be tomorrow.
They say riches are favored to those who dare.
I try my best to be bold

Now I got married and moved to UK , plus we have got a baby in 2019 so now I am looking for a job in UK having 3 years of career break. Although, I am getting CIPD lvl 7 diploma this year. I am not ready for team leader's role now . So my question is about HR area, where could I find a job with my only Russian experience? HR generalist, C&B analyst, HR BP, recruiter?

Additional Posts in Depression/Anxiety Talk

I'm feeling incredibly anxious and honestly depressed right now because of work. I had already been feeling demotivated and wanting to leave but I was told on Monday that I was being out on probation for one year (I am not going into detail on this). And now my manager is pressing me about finding a new project role as I have been on the bench for more than a month, and one possible one may require travel. I just want to get out of my job now and hear back from the 10+ applications I have now.

It’s this terrible feeling of like anguish/unease in my gut, but I don’t have anything I’m worried about- it’s like my body wants to find something to worry about.
