Would it be feasible, reasonable to have learning stations on Wednesdays? Have the students work in teams in small groups. Some will choose to work alone. Each student will have to answer questions from each station. The students are moving around so they may be more productive and you could cover the required data.
We have early release on Friday. I try to time it so introductory or self-guided activities show up on Friday. If not, I preface the lesson on Thursday or finish it Monday. Sometimes I’ll finish the lesson online if necessary. I haven’t noticed an appreciable difference in material covered between years with early release and those without.
The early release will be 40 minutes per period.
We have early release Mondays. Sometimes I use those days to give students extra practice/review. Sometimes when I have to break up one giant lesson into two days so I can adjust to those shorter days. Sometimes, I teach as much as I can and tell my students to try out the homework problems as best as they can and I just go over the stuff I didn't get to on the next day.
This year I had made videos of me teaching every lesson. This way, if I don't get to finish a lesson during class, I can tell them to watch the videos at home.
