This is how I feel about Kanye, like how are people "wanting to bring down the Black man" when he is literally doing bigoted and wacked out racist and idiotic shit. Like the man could be purple I would not support him then either. Protect Black people yes, always, but not from the consequences of their own actions like ?? And people want to say "well X white celebrity was never treated that way when they did this terrible thing!" Ok so your argument is that we should excuse people's behavior because white folks do?? Stop worrying about what they think about us or are doing and focus on the stuff we got going on over here.
I wouldn’t be surprised if they did this specifically to make headlines. *We* wouldn’t be talking about the AMAs if it were not for how they wasted Chris Brown’s time—and had Kelly Rowland not inserted herself into the conversation. The whole thing is a mess!
1000% agree, except I’m fine to cancel Chris Brown. He hurt Rihanna a long time ago, and continues to have restraining orders filed against him by nearly every woman he’s been with since. That’s not a coincidence imo.
I guess the question is: how are we NOT holding Chris Brown accountable? The man was charged, arrested, and sentenced. Every party involved (including Rihanna) moved on. And for what we know, he hasn’t been involved in domestic abuse since. People don’t really fuck with him like that in the culture (for a variety of reasons from continued antics to dropping musical quality).

Who is going hard for Chris brown right now?
Even though we’re becoming a less religious society, there has to be some path to redemption and forgiveness.
Not saying CB is worthy of absolution but I’m not with exile (canceling). Especially not our own people unless they’re truly beyond redemption.
Seems like the whole thing is a result of Disney’s disorganization. Which, if you’ve ever worked with Disney… isn’t surprising at all. Those people can’t make clear decisions to save their own lives, and it’s embarrassing.
If they feel the way they feel about him, although Rihanna has forgiven him and has since made music with him, and if they feel this way about Michael Jackson, although he was never found guilty—the performance should have never been on the table.
If Chris Brown is off-limits, leave him alone entirely. Don’t call him for performances—don’t nominate him for awards. His career has managed just fine without the AMA’s.
