Those that exited to MBB from big 4, is it worth it? Thinking about the long hours and pressure

Your exit opps and resume will be 10x more fire but u will work 10-20 more hours per week. Up to u

A1: hmm never mind then. I’ll hang on to my current 5 hour week wlb

This question gets asked every other day you might find more complete answers on one of the prior threads

Proof

Pros: paid more better exit opps.
Cons: hours, pressure, up or out

First, try to land an offer and make the decision once you get one. Imo - it is worth it

like

Are exit ops really that much better aside from PE and VC?
If you're a high performer in a valued sector and you can articulate that, only PE/VC go hard on the MBB requirement, and most corporations (and certainly the public sector) don't differentiate.
"Better exit ops" is taken as gospel but it's worth thinking about exactly where the exits are better and where the difference is less significant.
That being said, starting from the entry level, you'll get paid more for each level and make it to M faster at MBB. So starting from the bottom, it's automatically worth it. As an experienced hire? Depends on your timeline.

Ofc it's part of a larger project but there's still some day to day work. Consider this:

1. We want an MBB to help us with an enterprise transformation project
2. MBB does initial strategy and assessment
3. Hey MBB can you guys stay an extra 2-3 months to help us implement and get the actual transformation lifted off the ground. BoD C suite has good relationship with the dozens of partners that have projects at this F50 and don't mind spending some extra $ to make sure implementation is successful
4. Team of MBB stays for phase 1.5/2 until next set of consultants (big4/accenture etc.) come in

Maybe 10yrs ago MBB is still pure strategy but you can't say there's absolutely no staff aug/running day to day

I’m currently a Manager with 8 YOE, half of it in a mid-tier consulting firm and the other in a Big 4. Starting to look for an exit to industry and aiming for 220-250K base. Currently at $170K base and specializing in cyber security - is this too aggressive a target and if so, what should be my target for base + anything else (with the split)?

Should I renege offer from MBB?

An MBA recent grad. I signed with MBB last year. However, I have always wanted to do tech PM. I couldn’t find PM job in Fall and just signed MBB offer I have. I recently got an FAANG offer. It’s PM function, hard to break in with consulting experience. I declined the new offer during interview stage and again after they gave me initial offer, but it is coming back with 80k more in annual compensation. It made me so torn!! Should I renege MBB offer?

I know it’s competitive out there, but I also don’t know how I can either position myself better, seek positions that are more aligned with my expertise/experience, or work on improving certain areas.

Any advice on how to proceed?
