If you've managed data warehouses for ten years, I think you're better off finding a job in your field rather than incurring the expense and opportunity cost of law school. As somebody that works in privacy, it is an okay living, but is not that compelling.
I’ll help you out by being direct. Don’t do it.
I think it depends on your background where you at as far as compensation in your career. For myself I went to law school on a full scholarship with no debt and came out making 150k as a first year so for me that’s a good living and worth the time spent
As someone with a background in data analytics/data science and currently in law school, I would be very careful going down this path. Employers seem interested, but it is hard getting traction at the beginning of the transition. Alternatively, it might make more sense to get some IAPP certs and attend a few conferences.
You’re probably making more money than if you went to law school for three years, potentially took on debt and had no income for those three years.
I worked in tech for 8 years and if I could go back and do it again, I’d have stayed in tech, might’ve been senior management by now if I stayed.
I don’t think it’ll really give you much of an advantage. Against people who went to law school for privacy, employers really look at YOE in privacy law, and this would be like a cherry on top / gold star, but nothing to give you a definite advantage
It could be an advantage at the margin but not as much as you would think. I would not pursue it.
