I would frown on that. If I have a need I'm aggressive about filling it, I respond if it fits
I would not respond to most of the emails I receive signifying interest - unless I am interested in your profile. Make sure you submit yourself as a candidate. (You can imagine the number of emails a role contact gets. If it's at project initiation or a crazy phase in the project, s/he may just not have the capacity to reply to you.)
This can be tricky. You know the manager? I typically don't like receiving calls or IM messages from folks trying to find a role. I particularly dislike when they send an IM with "Hi ****" without jumping into the topic. I find that if a person is looking for resources, they will respond. If not, they will ignore emails or attempts to reach out.
I don't. I found the contact on myScheduling and sent an initial email of my interest. Didn't get an email response so I thought I'd send a tentative meeting invite.
It's a tricky one. I would follow up with a "Hi X, I know you don't know me. I'm looking to get staffed, see you have Y role open and here's why I think I'm a good fit" (following with 3-6 bullet points).
Show me what I need to know without wading through your auto generated resume....
I would stick to emails with bulleted qualifications. When people have a need they will reply. Invites and IM messages are super annoying when you are busy.
That said, try other tactics like reaching out to the associated TFS, network every chance you get and offer help with other work. I remember those people who offer help
