Quick qstn - I'm receiving HRA of 24075 from my employer but I would like dhow the rent paid as 96k p.a (while filing ITR). Even if I do so, I was only able to get exemption of 24075 from gross. Checking if we can speak to payroll department to increase Actual HRA since I'm actually paying more rent than compared. Will I be able to do so ?Deloitte Newco EY Accenture Genpact KPMG

Body cam? No. Camera in the classroom? Sure. But who is allowed to see it? What protections would ensure privacy and confidentiality for students?
What I would hate about that is in today's clip driven world. How long before some comment which is meaningless and related to the topic being discussed gets extracted taken out of context and used against the teacher. I am often a little sarcastic and goofy with my kids. I would hate to have a clip of me saying "well that was terrible" to my junior high band when we completely mess something up and are laughing with each other, turn into a snap video with some added ominous music showing how crappy of a teacher I am. Maybe a picture only camera wouldn't be the end of the world, but I still wouldn't love it because physical action can be misconstrued without sound. Put your hand on a kids shoulder in condolence and it looks like you grabbed them etc. Either trust me to do my job or hire someone you do trust.
No good will come from that. They will still just blame you for having a bad lesson or some other thing that you did. Do you believe anyone will take your side? One side of the aisle always looks to villify teachers and will just politicize the problems and then push charter schools and vouchers.
Body cam-no! No kid would shut down.
In the classroom, yes I too would love to show parents their child’s behavior. But bc of confidentiality laws we can’t. However, in elementary anyway if we knew or got wind that we had that kid (high behavior) whose parents are in complete denial over their kids issues (for whatever reason), we’d tell them if, hypothetically speaking your child was to act up, we will be taking pictures of the mess they created (behavior is communication lol) and send the pic to you. At that point, we will, have your child, w staff direction clean it up. If your child can’t does not comply (they never do and we rarely call) , and it interferes w the class time, you agree to come to the school and help clean up. We’d get a signature. Sometimes, if they were so destructive you know when the code word comes out and the entire class have to leave? we’d add to the parent agreement form, filming their behavior. Like if they get to a 5 on this scale, we will be filming.
They always agreed.
The fact that you're asking this question is so problematic. I can't imagine the kind of environment you're working in where this idea seems reasonable and necessary. I'm really sorry to hear it.
Unfortunately, you will have a student or two who will LIE. You want to always be on your swivel when around tiny friends. They get it from their parents, especially the parents who don't show up for Parent Teacher Conference.
Oh man I’d love cameras in the classroom! The hilarious things that are done and said sometimes would make an awesome video to watch!!
I absolutely did it. I turned on a deer camera just in case. There was a student walking around saying he was going to rape everyone and I went over the weekend and put in a camera right away. Counselors said “he just says that”.
Not a fan of body cam. There are some benefits to it however, where are we truly free from big tech?
Kids lie, I would welcome a camera.

I think it's a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" sort of proposal. Fortunately for me, I don't feel as though my situation warrants body-worn or mounted security cameras. I've never really been questioned when it comes to disciplinary issues, and I was supported when there was an obviously false allegation. That being said, we've seen time and time again that they really do help vindicate the police as more and more officers are wearing them. In extreme circumstances, I see the benefit of having some kind of camera in the classroom.
To HS Music's point, if we're talking about a security camera that records constantly and stores the videos on a central server, theoretically that could be used to counter, say, a kid making a clip on his phone as the entire class/incident would be caught in context. Even with that said, however, I still don't have complete faith that a teacher would be guaranteed access to the unedited footage. With everything being digital, video evidence is far too easy to manipulate. For that reason alone, it's a hard sell for me.
Admin will use it to penalize you as a teacher
Only problem with that is it goes both ways. Not that you'd do anything you shouldn't to a student, but things can be misconstrued against us.
Many years ago, my husband started driving a school bus after complaining about the transportation. (he is a man who will put his money where his mouth is.!😁). He experienced some really disturbing behavior. He had to break up a fight started by a really uncontrollable high school student. He told the district he wanted this kid off of his bus. They showed the video to his mother who said, and I DIRECTLY quote…. “ I don’t care what that video shows, my son doesn’t do that”😝. He was not successful in getting this kid removed from his route for more than one day, he told them “if he stays on the bus, I’m done.”
He was done.
Bless you all😝❤️
