Trading is a very broad word. What is the actual role trading responsibilities?
Some of the listed responsibilities include:
-Liaise with trade support, middle office and back office teams, across the entire life cycle of an order.
-Help resolve issues in order placement, matching and settlement.
-May execute smaller or less complex trades and negotiate pricing for transactions.
-Assist the trading and management across all administrative functions including reporting.
-Complete assigned research assignments for the Trading function.
-Provide market color, trade information, security-related information to traders and portfolio managers.
Agree with VP1. Additionally, I’ve seen some “trader” roles out there that required the person to use their own leverage to pay back any losses they incurred.
I'm kind of surprised you got an interview, given that you have zero experience. This would make me wonder if it's more of an administrative or entry level role that they plan on teaching you. Either way, you've been honest, so just go and see what it's all about.
It definitely sounds like an entry level role, hopefully more so than anything administrative. Says 0-3 years experience. Which I’m fine with as I only graduated in 2019, but was curious about entering that area overall. I jumped from analytics to sales, so I don’t want to make a third jump unless it’s where I want to stay.
