Push for video chat where possible (vs. phone). And wear pants.

But can I wear slippers?

Have good light and make sure anything in sight of your webcam is something you’re ok showing. Use a headset and mike (your phone headphones will do fine) and test them before you start. A lot of times people forgot to test that they’ve paired their Bluetooth headset with their laptop or used the webex/Skype/bluejeans settings to make sure they’re connected.

Also - Good Luck!!!

like

Thanks! Good call. I tested everything today except my headphones, will do

Bonus points if you put yourself between two ferns

likefunny

You could also glue some stuffed animals to the ferns for a little extra flair.

like

Test your setup an hour before, not five minutes before.

like

Test your camera and audio ahead of time on whatever the software is. Test your lighting and angle. Quit any other apps or close tabs that may make noise or suck up internet bandwidth.

like

I did a little test prelight today 😊

smart

Have a fake fern in the background so you like like a Renaissance man or woman.

funny

This is too funny because I literally moved my fiddle leaf fig into the shot when testing today. Not even kidding.

funny

Be prepaid before the start.

Don’t scramble and stand when wearing no 👖

And that concludes my TedTalk

Has anyone recently done a HR interview at UBS?
I’ve completed the first interview with the hiring manager and a colleague, and have been fortunate to get to the next stage but im unsure how to prepare. I’ve done the usual compentencies, strengths and weaknesses and company research. But I don’t want to fail at the last hurdle as I really like this company and it would be a dream to work there any support or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

How were your experiences when letting it out the bag early like that?

I recently had an initial interview for a technical recruiter position. The guy on the phone stated that this is not a 9-5 job and long hours are expected. I proceed to ask how much PTO is offered and he said that is not recommend within the first 6 months of working and the harder you work the more PTO you receive. From that conversation, I saw instant red flags. Any thoughts?

It’s so nice that every agency laying off people, have those left standing (and other agencies) trying to hustle jobs for their unemployed friends, but there are also a ton of people who were unemployed prior to Covid...so no severance, job hunting lot longer, and not earning income for longer time...hurting even MORE due to quarantine.

My #1 peeve about agencies is the old school habit of emailing everything. The most efficient offices leverage task/mgmt platforms to manage workflows/bandwidth. Crowded inboxes of nonsense = WASTE.
