Hey folks, I'm getting an offer as a SC in EY UK. Presently I'm a manager with EY India (up for SM next yr Oct 2021). Comp is 55k range (haven't officially received the figure, a few more days it's expected, doing some homework before that).

I'll be moving with family. Wife may not immediately start working (,find a new job, we have a toddler daughter as well 2 YO).

I personally don't find this offer commercially attractive. Can someone offer some counter arguments?

I’m in FDD… I know I signed up for this but there’s something about the anxiety that comes on a Friday knowing that we still didn’t get access to VDR .. and how that anxiety grows as you enter the long weekend knowing that access can happen at any minute (or not) and you have to tippy-toe on the idea of potentially cancelling on your memorial weekend plans. I know the unpredictability of our job but phew 😮‍💨

Starting a new job at Applied Materials on Monday as a Manufacturing Engineer III. I’ve been out of college for 5 years and all of my work experience till now has been in R&D for start ups and small businesses . So not only is this a new experience for me going into such a large company but also a industry (semiconductors). Have opportunity to work in my firm’s London satellite office for about a year and a half, and then come back to NY headquarters. In good standing with firm and have M&A and capital markets experience. Did not start traveling abroad until my bar trip (did not grow up with the money for trips like that) and think it would be a good personal and professional experience. Any thoughts / advice?

In the last two year I’ve gotten more and more into alcohol free beer. The selection in my country (Europe) is still small and mainly driven by the big brands (e.g. Heineken). My idea is to start my own small brewery which only produces alcohol free beer as a bit of a pendant to the booming local craft beer industry. Not sure if this is the right bowl but hoping to get some insight. I have a lot of student debt, and am considering refinancing with First Republic bank to get a (marginally) lower interest rate. However, their version of refinancing student loans has changed in the last couple years so now they offer you a personal line of credit. Is it a bad idea to refinance with a line of credit vs a regular student loan refinancing?

My partner and I are in the process of buying a PHEV that qualifies for the full non-refundable federal tax credit. We will both owe taxes in excess of the current $7,500 cap (will see if that increases with the new budget bill). If we both own the car (i.e. both names on the title), how do we manage filing for the tax credit when filing separately? Do we just pick one of us to file? Is there guidance on splitting the credit across owners? Does it matter what order our names are on the title?

I have a yearly income of 130k and will rent a 1Br/Studio in Manhattan from 2.4-3k by end of the year. I also have student loans of 28.5k which I intend to pay off in an year or so.
