I haven’t been. But comb through your LinkedIn contacts. Find the ones you know pretty well. Ask them if they can get your resume to the right person at the agency. Chances are they get a referral bonus so there’s added motivation for them to help you. 😉
I feel ya. I was laid off last month and it’s wild to see how many people are applying to jobs.
I know a lot of places are on a hiring freeze right now. My hope is that as restrictions are loosened, more opportunities will pop up. It might take a while, but eventually you’ll find something.
Don’t be deterred by the number of applications you see on LinkedIn. Sometimes I look at our LI postings and it will say there are way more applicants than there are in our applicant tracking system. I think it tracks how many people click on the apply button but now how many people actually fill out the information and submit.
@OP AD: It’s all about working your existing connections. Send an email to someone every day, ask for names of recruiters (external and internal) and follow up on all of them. Then if you get a response, ask to chat and then follow up again the next week. As a Creative, jobs are hardly ever found through listings. It’s about being in someone’s mind at the moment when they need someone. It’s painful and can be demoralizing, but stay positive and keep trying. A hot lead may be just around the corner. In my experience, the darkest hour always comes just before dawn.
One other thing, do you have a portfolio of work you’ve been involved in? It could set you apart from other account people and show you care about the end product. Building this could also be a purposeful way to make contact with your ex-agency team for advice, and encouragement. Ask them for copies of files and start a free trial on Squarespace. That will keep your mind busy while you search and wait.
Thanks! I have reached out to recruiters in my network, but they don’t seem to have any jobs. Will switch focus to my former colleagues. I do have a portfolio of my work 😊
