Just got a job at Deloitte M&A in Atlanta and am currently looking to buy a house. Would you advise I buy closer to Atlanta or the suburbs? I personally want to be in the suburbs but I hear the traffic situation is quite bad. Current consultants in Atlanta, how much time do you actually spend in the office vs remote vs client site? Would you advise I try and stay closer to the office?

McKinsey & Company Has any industry experienced candidates pivot to MBB Engagement Manager before? My roommate works at FAANG as Senior Analyst (Ops, 6+ YOE) and was approached by McKinsey & Company recruiter for an EM role. He hasn’t done consulting before. Would this be too much of a risk? His goal is to pivot to PE S&O eventually.

1000% chance the account is more right
Ugh. I feel I am in this situation. Debating whether to pay an accountant or pay TurboTax:/
A2-yup submitted the w-2 numbers so I was shocked as well (no other source of income or mortgages, etc...) So filing should be easy. Thanks for the input. I'm also just worried the accountant is just doing the typical sales pitch. But I mean if their name is on it it should be alright right? Haha I'll fill out my own form to compare though.
Which is why I'm concerned 🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃
😳 you put it in right on TurboTax? It's all #s, so it should come out the same unless someone is doing something different. Fill out a 1040 by hand from what you put in TT and compare to what you get back from accountant. I'd use them if getting money back. Their name on the form. If they mess up not your problem.
Sounds like a bait and switch... i've never had to deal with an accountant so I don't have that experience. I just prepare my own. Maybe someone else has more info to provide. I just don't see it being possible unless you have enough to itemize deductions. Other than that it's W2 wages and standard deduction. Keep me updated.
My accountant told me the same thing -- Willie Nelson.
OP what kind of a difference are you talking?
Couple thousand lol
At least for now 🙂
Is the accountant just saying this or has actually prepared your filing? If he's just saying this I call BS. Only a few #s on a simple tax return and no way he's gonna get a few k back if TT doesn't show it. If he's guaranteeing it or already prepared then what the hell. Take the money and run.
@OP you are responsible for your taxes filed, the accountant and you will get in trouble.
@A2 he was just saying so amount may come out different. When he said the amount I was fishy too as the difference was too high. I'm sure after he prepares it it won't be that high. He did say there are other returns I can get no on w-2 such as relocation, etc...
So I'm assuming some difference is made up there
Yea definitely sounded like a sales pitch. I'm gonna see how much he can actually do before filing.
My tax person got me thousands back. Worth the $300 I pay her. I think otherwise my tax return would be much lower!
Should specify that it depends on your situation...i have some activities that get me a bunch of deductions or credits.
