Hi all, I am working at Natwest Group RBS and I have recently applied for Product Manager Role(gurgaon) in Gartner. How much CTC I should ask and what is the general hike and bonus they give on yearly basis and can someone provide some insights on work life balance and leave policy?

Also, look for jobs in industry. I found one that I love and have my life back. It’s the best thing I ever did for myself and my marriage. My last few years at EY were so stressful, working so many hours, with everything just focused on making partner. I was miserable. I finally realized that nothing was worth what I was doing to my health, my marriage, and my life, and I went to industry. I work pretty much 9-5 now. I have lost weight, I am happier, I have reconnected with my husband. We don’t have kids, but if we did, I would have way more time to spend with them. If you can’t get the FWA to work out, take a long, hard look at what you are doing and consider leaving for a better quality of life. I am so, so, so glad I did!
What’s the end goal here....To make partner, to check a box off your bucket list and prove to yourself that you’re able to do it at the expense of your family’s happiness? Yes that would be a great accomplishment but is it really worth it...there’s so much more out there than just EY
SM asking for defined hours? 😂
You can go FWA to cut down on total hours but defined hours do not work.
FYI E4 SM here.
SM2 - isn’t it scary? Like just by being the breadwinner, you end up potentially not having custody. It’s so messed up - I’m working so much for my child. When you say timing is pushing you out, do you mean bc they’re not putting you up fast enough? That’s how I feel. If I was partner soon, I would feel relief of not having to do everything for three different partners
Another SM here, I have been doing FWA for a couple of years now, totally worth it. Sometimes you do have to reply email or two outside of your working hours and get on client call but at least I no longer do 50-60 hours per week. It is hard in the beginning to remind people that you are on FWA, etc. but you have to be firm. Be prepared that in addition to pay cut you will also be seen as someone not so serious about “the partner path”, as you are not dedicated to work 24/7 and ready to jump on every new opportunity.
EY3 - thanks for sharing. Knowing your experience is helpful.
I'll tell you if you tell me what mercury is.

Aka failure in a box.
Another SM and mom of two here. I took a temporary internal role last year, and it has been a godsend. Very little travel, and extremely flexible. When my kids were sick basically all of last winter, I was able to get out pretty much whenever I needed to with very little stress. I did not have to take a pay cut, but do understand that I am not currently making a ton of “progress” on the path to partnership. That is a sacrifice I am willing to make to get me through the next few years while my kids are little, and then I will reassess.
I faced your debate too. I decided to go to a local firm where everyone works less hours (than B4) instead of going with an FWA with the same hours commitment but being an exception to the rule
I think they say something like "thank you for your time, leave your laptop with the admin at the end of the day".
