He said he took PTO for a month instead of quitting to test out his new job before quitting. Accenture eventually found out and they fired him because he 'took an extended period of PTO without his managers approval.' Should I refer him or will it look bad on me?

@A1 he did say it was 10 years ago so he was younger and not mature enough and would definitely apologize if it was brought up in an interview
@P2 he was laid off at an oil and gas company. Typical case in Houston which is where this happened.

OP ask him to give a cover letter stating his mistake and that he realized it. Be very clear if you pass it on to HR. Even better if he can tell you who he worked with in the past so you can verify his story
@P1- People make honest mistakes sometimes. Unless it is a pattern, don't see why they wouldn't hire him back if he was a good employee.
I know directors who are working as uber drivers / janitors on the weekends just to make ends meet. Tough times for consulting
