Want to appreciate your remote team in a REAL way?
- stop “recommended” zoom happy hours
- hard stop at 3:30/4pm on Fri
- use travel savings from budget to let team expense dinner one night
- use travel savings to give each member a $5 sbux giftcard
- use savings for each team member to get a good mouse up to $20
- vocalize flexible work arrangements (ESPECIALLY for ppl with kids)

If you think the “savings” from not expensing travel are not being passed on to the client to keep costs low and stop projects from being cut you cray

likesmart

MBB doesn’t have a separate line item for expenses. At least one didn’t charge the client less for expenses if the contract started pre-COVID and is only reducing the expense allocation by 25% for projects starting now.

You’re an analyst so probably someone who’s relatively new? You’re probably not an analyst on my team so you may not know how your firm is doing.

This is a time when many companies are making tough decisions about whether to keep people employed or not. Some have reduced salaries. There’s no room for any discretionary spending. So expensing meals or office supplies would be irresponsible if it meant they’d have to fire people.

The last bit about flexibility for people with kids... it’s a choice to have them. Would make more sense to allow flexibility for ALL.

Ey 7 - no. If anything people on FB should be having more since they have the means to really provide.

With as much as I'm working. I would love to have the option to expense dinner once a week. I hardly have time to cook much anymore.

Yes please. Missing the free unlimited good coffee and heavily subsidized food from the office

Really disagree with a lot of these suggested expenses for teams. Most of these can’t be billed to a client, so what you are suggesting is firms (which are already struggling financially) should increase their discretionary spending. Sorry, no. There is no reason why my firm should allow employees to start expensing dinners at home while they consider laying off people because they can’t afford to pay them anymore. The flexible work arrangements and stepping away from laptops early on Fridays is great, but not the spending

I spoke to people at one firm where they had pizza delivered to everyone’s house for a team zoom happy hour. Another had a sommelier zoom event where everyone was shipped the wine they were trying. Yes it’s a difficult time, but that doesn’t mean team events necessarily need to stop completely

like

Is travel not a passthrough expense at your firm? Everywhere I've worked it's been billed directly to the client, so there wouldn't be any travel savings in the budget to expense these proposed items to.

like

It’s not passed through at MBB

No exceptions for those with kids. I feel for them- but once again, a choice. And living alone while trying to work isn’t a treat. I have coworkers in my same age range who have had multiple children when I hold off so focus on my career. Own your choices.

M5, honestly? You think parents should plan for a pandemic before having kids when entire corporations haven't been able to? Wow

Not sure morale for people without kids would improve if you only focus on the flexibility for those who have kids

My company blames my generation for not being able to hire everyday. “You guys don’t want to work” coming from some overweight, racist, old coaster. I’ve barely taken any days off this year and pick up “skeleton crew” days any chance I get. Then sit here and can’t figure out why…

As I'm moving to a new role in a small company, I have a doubt about my salary structure like the Basic salary part is only 20,000 while my take home is 62k after all deductions.

I'm concerned because the leave encashment & other things totally depends on the basic salary.

Are there not any rules for the Basic salary to be at a certain % of CTC or it depends totally on the company?

Also PF deductions they are offering only 1800 p.m but considering 20000 basic it should be 12% of 20000 right?
