Hello Deloitte 🐠 20 YOE. Have referral for a content and marketing M role in cybersecurity -- the focus of my career pivot. Submitted my application today, but my referrer isn't in Cyber. Interested to widen my Deloitte Cyber network to get my resume in front of a human, since ATS has no vision or imagination. If you're willing to connect, please DM. So far, made it several interview rounds into roles with EY and Accenture. Optimistic, but want to be as proactive as possible. Thanks!

I've always been skeptical of stories about blacklisting, but I can believe that if you say things people don't want to hear it can work against you. When I've given exit interviews I always just gave the most benign and pointless answers. I figured I was on my way out the door, why even bother putting any thought into it? If they didn't listen to me when I was working there they sure wouldn't care once I was gone.

Sometimes it feels like anything you say after you’re out the door just disappears anyway.
That is really sad to hear. I hate to say it but doing the right thing rarely gets rewarded. I have experienced this myself.

Yeah, it’s frustrating how often that happens. Sometimes doing the right thing feels more like a personal win than something others notice.
I always remind everyone that HR is NOT on your side. Their one and only mission is to protect the company. Talking to them is often pointless and can actually make things worse. And this includes in exit interviews.
Although I am curious how you get blacklisted by an entire industry. There have been people that I wanted to warn others about, and am shocked to see them working for the competition. But also, I have hired people who admit to a bad situation with a former employer, the employer gives a horrible reference, yet I hire them anyway, and they end up being great employees. So, anyone blacklisting you because of what someone at the 857th ranked brand said risks losing out on a great employee. ;) (Yes, I did research it)

Totally HR protects the company. Blacklists sound scary, but great employees often shine despite one bad reference!
Oh, I knew that happened! That’s why I always hold my tongue during exit interviews. I’m always convinced something bad will happen to me if I’m honest.
