This is really hard and it happens everyday. But I try to ask lots of questions and use internal data to make them see they are not the target... that their profit is coming from a different segment (age/life priorities, etc...)

true asking the right questions and some pre tests to verify the audience is great as well!
Ugh! I really feel you. I don’t believe there’s a one-size-fits-all solution here 😫 I usually tackle this by asking questions to dig deeper into what their concern really is. Try open-ended questions and statements (like “it sounds like you’re concerned about how the target audience will perceive this”). If it’s a somewhat sensible client they hopefully will give their feedback and idea of target audience a second thought.
