Was just there in October. Some highlights:
- chateau guadet was a great wine tasting and mini tour. Guy is a character and family has ton of history. Learned a lot, brought a bottle back for Thanksgiving (local airbnb guide recommended)
- O 3 Fontaines is a pretty casual but very very good French/Basque/Asian fusion spot
-L'huitrier Pie was one of my favorite meals this year. Definitely a bit more expensive but worth it (another rec from airbnb)
- Sous la robe great gastro / wine bar
- cloitre de cordeliers is fun. Not the best of wines but it is a nice change up from the reds and the space is great. Good picnic option
- Fromagerie La Moineaudière has incredible sandwiches, got one for the train
- tried all the macaron shops, Macarons de Saint-Émilion - Nadia Fermigier was the best
- the town apparently hosts a Monthly local goods market that is quite good- Got a bunch of gifts there
Really loved Chateau Guadet - hilarious guy and great wine. Make sure you order from him - can get it shipped to your home for reasonable pricing. We re-up every once in a while
Also get down to Chateau Pape Clement. It’s outside of the town of Bordeaux. Impressive place and great wines - we still order the medoc frequently online ($20-25 on wine.com when in stock) and have their grand cru saved for very special occasions
Table du Pavie for a two Michelin star dinner experience that was absolutely amazing
Le Bis was a lunch favorite. Best charcuterie board I’ve ever had and they cook their steaks on grape vines in the fireplace
