“Tone policing is defined as "a conversational tactic that dismisses the ideas being communicated when they are perceived to be delivered in an angry, frustrated, sad, fearful, or otherwise emotionally charged manner." Managers striving to create a workplace based on equity and inclusion must understand how tone policing silences members of marginalized groups and allows discrimination to persist.” https://www-businessinsider-com.cdn.ampproject.org/c/s/www.businessinsider.com/how-to-identify-and-help-stop-tone-policing-in-workplace-2020-8?amp
Hello all,
Would like to know specifically about Queer inclusion at SocGen Societe Generale. What is the attitude of mangers and HRs towards treating LGBTQ identifying candidates? Is company really inclusive or it’s just a lip service? Considering an offer with the company but being an out and proud Queer woman, super anxious and concerned.

I hope so OP. But given the way big agencies operate, these workshops are offered more for the sake of checking boxes than anything else. Meaning that in the event of a discrimination lawsuit against the company, they can say, “we don’t discriminate. We even paid for employee workshops. See?”
90% of these things are merely conducted so the company can mitigate risk. I’m not trying to scare you, but you should have your site and resume buttoned up just in case.
Lol wut?
At MRM, in the latest round of layoffs, every person they let go was protected class. Either a woman, POC, over 40, LGBTQ or a combination. We won an IPG diversity award a few weeks later. So I wouldn’t count on it. When it comes to layoffs, minorities and those over 40 are still going to be the most vulnerable no matter how many workshops they hold.
It's the exact opposite. The whole reason they had that workshop is so that when someone sues them, they can say LOOK LOOK WE JUST HAD A WORSKHOP THATS HOW DEDICATED WE ARE! In fact don't be at all surprised, if the whole reason they had this workshop is because they're gearing to lay people off, likely not long after the new year...
They included you in the meeting. The optics would have been bad if they didn’t. You’re not any safer.
Yeah, not so much.
What the heck is going on at McCann?
