Two points—Given our political climate, I understand the inclination to equate 'conservative’ with all the anti-isms they have shown themselves to espouse. Not necessarily or historically true. I personally don’t kick it with conservatives, but I think it’s safe to say, I have (and we all) work with them and will always. That said, I do believe they should have a seat at the table, otherwise, we are liable of the very same silencing of counter-thought of which we accuse them. I also personally enjoy the intellectual sport of challenging their archaic and misinformed ideas. 🤷🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️🙋🏾♀️
Diversity of thought is code for “I’m tired of talking about race.” It’s such bullshit. I think the industry thinks they’ve done enough for racial diversity and wants to move on, but we’re not done yet!
Recall that racial diversity is being pushed as a critical business imperative because we need different viewpoints to connect with different audiences. So it is hilarious to see the indignant reactions like on this thread when someone points out that the viewpoints of 90% of the industry are products of the SF-NYC leftist bubble, and maybe we need some actual viewpoint diversity, instead of just people who find the same half the country to be deplorable.
Yes! The stretching of “diversity” seems to be such a widespread symptom of this industry’s fear of addressing the uncomfortable realities of race within it. Is this not a distraction? Very “All Lives Matter” ... How do we everyone focused?
