Well folks, it's finally happened. Just got my first email on my work email from some place in Iowa trying to recruit me. Must be a rite of passage

My first firm voicemail was a recruiter (for those who were born not long before I started this career, voice mails are an ancient form of communication back when people actually talked on the phone)

funny

Not the voicemail that's even worse😭

Good to know

Thanks, buddy

Make sure to accept the offer.

Contractor role showing no pay details and skills and experience required seemed pretty basic. I had to jump on it and quit my full-time gig. Common sense

Funny story for you - one time, my husband told me that he kept getting recruiting emails and that it was starting to take up a lot of his time responding to all of them that he was happy in his position and not interested in pursuing other opportunities at that time. Queue the obligatory wife eyeroll. I've been in public accounting a couple years longer than him (and this was quite a few years ago), but I told him that was absurd because they just mass email hundreds of people a day. He actually tried to argue with me about how personalized some of these emails were....until I showed him that I'd received some of the EXACT same ones.... silly dude.

That is a hilarious story and I probably would have acted like him too. Seems like a chill guy

Is this one of those spam messages everyone’s been getting about remote work but you must be 25+ and provide your SSN?

Lol no but that's crazy that those are there too. Like the SSN part comes AFTERWARDS when you're filling out payroll info

Jumped from public to a job in a place run by boomers but I just wanted out of public so I took the first offer that came to me. 5 months in and I realized it's not a good fit at all. Mainly the CFO thinks no one should be working from home, and working from anywhere but the office is considered a day off to him. Is this a good reason to apply for other jobs right now?

Need advice: do you tell your manager that you’re unhappy or do you just leave?

I’m being taken advantage of with being thrown so much work and really don’t see my salary increasing to be in line with my coworkers doing similar work. I’m a consistent high performer - management reviews tell me that much.

My coworker did mention to the manager that they’re not being paid well for the work they do, and our manager took it personally and told them they’re ungrateful 🥲
