Welp I've decided I'm done here...retired Air Force now contractor, the pay is amazing but i'm realizing my coworker might be threatened by me. Threw me under the bus AGAIN and the boss micromanages. Sure that can happen anywhere but I'm gonna get out of my comfort zone and do something else.
I'm thinking Solutions Architect or something....I have Sec+ and PMP certs I really enjoy solving problems and I love a challenge....what other areas should I research that would be interesting work?

Cloud Architecture is a new puzzle every day & pays well. You’ll want to dig into AWS, Azure, and GCP certs for that.

Cybersecurity & privacy isn’t going anywhere either. The market’s booming but still feels like there’s never enough bodies for all the work.

Oh upward trajectory for sure. Just applied to a trust & safety investigator role blind to see how far that gets me/what they’re offering these days.

Side note: could you define ‘amazing’ re: current pay? Trying to gauge what’s considered good for contractors.

not to snake the offer, but does AFS have a talent network I can register with?

Yup people are like this. Sucks. There are plenty of teams that would appreciate your style and work methods, and conversely, there are plenty of people who would enjoy this type of work environment

This happens all the time in the government. I don't know why that is. Used to happen to me all the time in the DOJ.

So I had been working as medical interpreter up to the early part of this year. I applied to a part time masters program to try to pivot to a different technical field (still doing patent work, but in something that interests me more than what I’m doing now). Do I try to stick it out at the firm while getting the masters, ask for a reduced hours schedule, or get a part time, non-legal job so I can focus more on the program (one year).

I would love some advice to get a little more serious with this hobby of mine. I have gone to a handful of events, both local tracks and professional circuits as a spectator, but wish to know what the best approach is to gain media credentials to take this passion of mine to the next next step.

Any advice is welcome, I would very much love to fuel this passion of mine with the hopes of eventually making motorsports photography a career path.

Here is my idea for a startup! I collect all the data from career transitions and use Data Analytics to predict the most likely career transitions. I could start with consulting. I have all the data to do this, but wanted your thoughts. Would the output of this be relevant to you?

What's the market these days for someone with not-great technical skills, 12 YOE, TS clearance, hard-to-find/unique skillset, elite masters, middle management in DoD contracting, experience with critical/high profile roles?

I'm thinking 120-135k would be bad/mediocre, 180-195k would be possible/a stretch, and 160-170k would be doable/realistic. Thoughts? Not interested in Deloitte.

What would you all say are the best consulting firms to work at in the federal government space? I’m not sure how many “prestigious” firms (like MBB) have a significant federal practice at all.
