WFH TIP- IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A SECOND SCREEN AT HOME: You can use your television if both your laptop/computer and TV have HDMI inputs. I suggest a 15-25 foot HDMI cable for slack.

But then how will I have RHONY on in the background?

likefunny

It was mostly a joke 😜 but that’s true I guess I could put the big screen towards work and the little screen toward TV. Ugh. Sacrifices.

There are probably also other input/outputs you can Macguyver but HDMI is probably the most common. I don’t have a Mac but if the TV just duplicates the laptop screen, go into the display settings of your control panel. Click around until you find the “Extend” screen option.

like

You can also download the duet display app for iPads and iPhones to act as a second monitor to your laptop. It’s $10.

like

So is mine! But it’s better than nothing. Lol. I miss my monitors in my real office!!

Omg I miss my monitors so much. I ordered a 27" one when I realized we're going to be at home for a while, and now I'm just hoping Amazon delivery doesn't cancel all non-grocery deliveries.

How do you handle remote teams being in different time zones? Right now we have a ton of team leaders on the west coast with the core team on the east coast and because of that urgent requests keep coming down after hours with the expectation to address it immediately. So at this point we’re working from 8am until like 11pm and nobody knows what to do to push back on it

Quick question.
I was a contractor for a big company and they just let me know that my last day is December 30th. I got this position thanks to a recruiting company that has been great and gives me benefits.
Should I:
- Continue working with the recruiting company, hoping that they will find another position for me? (as they told me they will, and when they applied me I started working with my current company within 2 weeks)
- Work with the recruiter + apply for jobs on my own?

I'm in a litigation, about 9 months in. Is it normal that I spend majority of my time making bundles for my partners (printing, binding, moving docs in a different order whenever there are new documents or he wants to add stuff) reviewing documents and making tables (e.g. dates, which documents are from where), and the only legal work is like notices of admission, list of documents, the occasional research? I'm so bored and I want to quit but I don't know if I have unrealistic expectations.

Bit of a niche topic: I’ve been in TS/SCI processing for a Science/Tech/Weapons analyst position with the CIA for 3 yrs since I finished grad school in chemistry, but CIA positions are sort of set it and forget it since they can take so long.
