Any tips on how to start and prepare my MBA Application? I don’t plan on applying till 2022 as I want to attend in 2023. What are things I can do to prepare now in order to have a strong application? Background: I’m aiming for HSW, M7, and top 15. I’m currently a Staff at EY within Business Consulting. I graduated from a Top 25 Business Undergrad - majoring in Finance and minor in Advertising with a 3.71 GPA. I want to pivot towards PM or Corporate Strategy in Tech, at Toyota, or Nike. TIA!

Americans are too much into the BSchools and think BSchool is the center of the world. Out side of US, who really give a f about MBAs? MBA is just viewed as another master degree out there. HBS goes all over the world not because of HBS but because of Harvard. Sloan goes all over the world because of MIT. Wharton only goes to certain industries. UPen is unheard
This is surprising, Wharton for sure - for both brand and overall experience
Both great schools. But the reality is that Wharton is winning on cross admits by a significant margin. So until you get into both schools and pick MIT Sloan over Wharton, only state the facts.
I really don’t get these kind of posts. Are you going to make a decision based on a fishbowl poll? How does this thread help you in any way?
Go back to why you applied to each of those schools. Frankly, you should already know the answer...as in, before applying you should’ve ranked them and known which school you’d pick if it came down to two. With that, great predicament to be in and I hope bschool helps you develop more clarity of thought.
PS: I think any of the top 10 bschools will give you an amazing edge throughout your career but the deciding factor among each of them is really about what you want to immediately after your MBA to set up your career. That is where you want to analyze their employment stats I reckon all of the 10 brands will give you the same long term opportunities.
HSW. Sloan is second tier. dont listen to people going to sloan since they were rejected by W
Lol at all the Wharton grads. Don’t go by ranking. Their both good schools, Wharton is just filled with way more douchebags than any of the other top schools. Why do you think it’s so much easier to get into Wharton?
^really?
I‘m going to Sloan this year, but always felt that Wharton had a stronger brand over all, even though their strengths lie in very different fields. So I guess the real question is: what do you hope to do post-MBA, OP?
Wharton
So this is my experience while dealing with people at both schools - Wharton smart guys much more into finance but not Uber creative but definitely very well read. On paper 10/10.
Sloan - very hardworking people from a very diverse background, you can talk to them about any field and have a good experience. Also very well read but somehow working with them is a blast.
Typically Sloan I felt was smarter people at least wanting to create great new solutions and Wharton was great at making money. I’d always go for the former. So yes depends on your persona opinion.
Also this is a gross generalization so please take it with a pinch of salt. But if you want to be with entrepreneur and you’re not a typical upper east white man maybe you’ll love Sloan and the crowd little bit more.
And now I expect a plethora of not so great comments thrown at me. To them - I’ll survive 💃
I got into both and ended up choosing Wharton, but it was a very very tough call. As mentioned before, it’s hard to give advice without knowing your goals and expectations, as the right call would vary from person to person.
Given we are in the end of June, what’s the scenario? Thinking of which one to apply to or did you get off the waitlist for one?
Typical upper east side boy? I feel like you actually get exposure to a more diverse group of people at Wharton given the larger class and larger % from underrepresented groups. Comparable % of international students, but in absolute terms Wharton will have more.
I think the evaluation criteria should be more based on what you’ll get out of the MBA. What learning style are you looking for...do you care about grade non-disclosure (Wharton has it, pretty sure MIT doesn’t)...do you want a lot of structured leadership building (look into all of Wharton’s leadership fellowship programs). Do the research for yourself and make your own informed decision
Booth has been making a fool or Wharton recently. Wharton’s brand is dying
Wait why Sloan
To me the ranking was always H/GSB and then Wharton
PwC2 - Unbiased opinion when someone posts “Wharton” or “Sloan?” How is that furthering OPs thought process?
Sloan any day
Sloan
Sloan 30 times over
Absolutely Sloan.
