Let's say if you working as scrum master.. resign and start tea bandi now you can be tea master. This is one way.
Jokes apart.. get higher education, do certifications, move to a new country , internal job rotations are some.

Don't put down papers just like that. There needs to be gradual overlap.
I think it depends a lot on if you're shifting to something unrelated or maybe in the IT industry only.
It could be a new tech, farming, stock market
1. Do courses or and self study in the new industry or tech you're trying to get into
2. Start practicing the new thing in bits and pieces. If it's in the tech industry, do your own projects
3. Really understand if it is where you want to go to in terms of your future career. See if it really drives you.
4. If you've decided to go ahead, as you are leaving current industry, do less and less since it will no longer matter.
If it's a different role available in your current org, talk to your manager and find out how you can move. That's the best way to go ahead!
All the best
Before you resign, you go job hunting already. If you get a good offer, you resign then take your severance pay and save it.
First, you need to be sure that you really want to change careers. You might find it difficult to transition back. Second, improve your skills, especially the ones needed for your new job. Lastly, hope and pray that you get a job in a good company with good compensation. Best of luck! :)
Hi! Identify your transferable skills. Research your chosen industry, and find out which of your existing skills and strengths apply to it.
