What are realistic exit options for an IRS Office of Chief Counsel attorney working in SBSE or LB&I? From what I understand the flow is typically from firms to OCC, but do tax boutiques and/or large firms generally look favorably on IRS OCC experience?

How many hours a week are you working? I’m generally clocking about 50-60 and I’m exhausted. I’m busy, but it’s mostly because no one I work with has any boundaries.

What were some circumstances where you have had to to let go of an internal company offer after accepting it?

Have any of you taken "low bono" clients while working at a firm? I want to take on a low bono client or two but not sure who would get the money. This is a contract opportunity through a non profit so I'm assuming a 1099 will be issued. The per hour rate is significantly less than my billable rate. Anyone here practice SALT? How does it differ from what “regular” tax associates do?

Has anyone dealt with stuffing allocation in a non-hedge fund context? It seems even in the HF world the law is fuzzy in using aggregate reverse 704c principles in stuffing allocations. Like, sure, the market is there but no authority really blessed it (other than some Cravath partner’s article in Tax Notes in 2013). If we are talking asset class that isn’t really like marketable securities but might be able to treat it similarly solely by virtue of, say, valuation on a quarterly basis (contd)
