At creative agencies, you do creative. At media agencies you wish/pretend you do.
I don't know what copy wear out means.
Creative agencies (as a whole) are in a more dire situation than media. AOR resistance, commoditized FTE models and lots of margin pressure. I think you'll see a lot of closed doors in the next 3 years.
Culture differs from agency to agency. Compensation is higher on the media side. Stability is similar, but when media agencies get fired it's over cost or poor accounting. Typically creative agencies get fired when a new client comes in trying to make a name for themselves. In short, media buys the land, and creatives construct the house.
