Hear me out: boxing training. Mostly heavy bag work with occasional sparring. I find it very cathartic and I’m in the best shape of my life since I was a college athlete.
If it all ended tomorrow, what’s the last thing you want your kids, spouse, friends to remember you saying to them? I have a very close friend who is a surgeon, every day people put their life in his hands on the operating table - he gracefully handles the stress of someone possibly dying on his watch day-in and day-out. Doesn’t mean our profession isn’t stressful, but putting it in perspective helps. Also, similar to PwC1’s boxing suggestion, regular exercise, with some kind of competitive aspect helps tremendously, plus you feel great afterwards.
Always keep smiling when talking to family, be thankful you have loved ones and remember you are doing it for them. Clients come and go… but family…. We work to live and don’t live to work…
I golf a lot - my wife and family both appreciate a calmer gentler me….
Get a personal trainer and start and end each day reflective on all you are grateful for. Take care of your whole self: Mind, body & soul.
