Rising Star
I never snuck anything out of the office, but I made out like a bandit at every event! I worked at agencies with some great clients - so: six-packs of Miller and a case of Corona, bags of Lay’s products, VeryFine juices, LOTS of Steve’s ice cream and other frozen novelties - just to name a few.
I also handled two retail grocery accounts and was on a 3-month contract at Publix corporate - free meals in their HUGE cafeteria every day and all kinds of produce, breads, desserts, etc. to take home. And a free turkey for Thanksgiving.
Plus, I was on an 18-month contract at Disney Corporate. There was so much food and swag there.
Is there a rule against that at your office? If there’s leftovers, I’m usually bringing some home for wife and/or kids.
You still use the cream cheese?
I spent like 4 years at a big agency for my first job, and I literally had a box of gallon ziplock bags in my cube. Whenever there were leftovers I would wait for people to eat what they wanted and then I would load up, in front of everyone, and bring it home. I figured it’s going to go in the trash and I’m getting paid pennies so I might as well take it. People loved to make fun of me for it but honestly whatever. So much free delicious food to nourish my young, broke body.
The office services also would bring wine and beer to late-day meetings, but they would never come back and check after the meeting was over. I was more sneaky about taking those but I stuffed either three four bottles of Chianti into my backpack one time and got drunk with my roommate.
Not sure if this counts, but pre-pandemic in an older job’s office, when I made so little money I don’t quite know how I made ends meet, I would look in the refrigerators and keep an eye on forgotten nice glass tupper ware.
The company threw everything out of the fridges at the end of every other week, so I would clean the best tupperwares out and take them home to use.
I also took home plenty of pizza, chipotle bar fixins, and pastries throughout my time there.
