Hello Guys,
I joined Cognizant recently, the project interview calls which I am getting is not from my base location.
I have the location constraint, should I wait for the right opportunity or raise this concern to ADP team so they can look in to it?
As per ADP policy, one should not have any constraints and take the project as FCFS basis.

Despite having like 2500+ members to this bowl, people here suck at actually providing helpful feedback (or just responding). I just joined Deloitte in HC so I don’t really have any first-hand advice to give you, but I’d assume that roles in HR would be fairly easy to get. If you want to end up in a different function, might be more challenging. I’ve also had some banks reach out for project management roles.
I'm in HC and have noticed that most of my network doesn't use FB or signed up and hardly come here. Not sure if they're always busy or just could care less.
I came from industry prior to joining but agree that HR makes the most sense and likely a program manager/management role within Talent or Org Design make the most sense given your background/experience.
Seen people exit to all different parts of HR, corporate communications, lots of non profits, change management, OD work, internal consulting (corporate strategy), boutique HR/change consulting. OP what is it exactly you’d like to do? If you tell us that fishbowl can collectively say if we’ve seen that move happen, what the odds are, if we have any recommendations, etc
PS - Google just reached out to me about a strategy role within their people resources group. So that’s an option too!
@d1 same here. They reached out back in November for a strategy position to redesign they recruiting strategy and journey. They wanted me to come out to Mountain View but by then I had accepted another role with a 3 year old start up to build a boutique consulting firm for my new company to deliver their solution to customers
Yes, work in an internal change capability of a company. Or, better yet, find a company that needs your help building one!
If you exit as an SC, that’s manager level in industry. You need to make it to director/SM in consulting to go for VP roles in industry
OP head of HR will be tough as an SC but you’d probably have a decent shot with a 50-100 person startup as the one HR person and you can grow with the business. VP is possible at a slightly larger start up or small business <1000 employees. You miss all the shots you don’t take so just go out there and apply. I’m a consultant but have considered applying to several start up HR roles in the last few months— with similar background/project experience as you
@OP the roles most outlined related to Org Development and Change Management are probably you’re best bet. I will say, going into a CHRO or The one HR person for a startup would require you to have strong HR knowledge related to policy development, employee relations, labor laws etc which you typically will not get in HC consulting. This is coming from a person with over 10 years of HR transformation experience. I don’t think I could easily slot into those kind of roles as I have not gotten into that type of detail in my projects nor do I have a graduate+ degree in HR. Would love to hear other perspectives on this as I find challenges in slotting myself to industry roles. My thoughts are HR Operations Lead, HR BP (which I wouldn’t really care for) or HR Special Projects which are too few and far between and not sustainable
Could also move to an internal consulting role in industry.
Check out HCSC
Health Care Services Corporation
Korn Ferry if you're trying to aim for the top end.
What about any of your clients? I've received several offers from mine but not ready to leave yet.
@D1 & D5. What level is the role in google and what level are you at/was in Deloitte
D6 I was a manager when I left Deloitte. I do t recall the google level. Maybe manager or SM equilivent. It wouldn’t have matter because google was willing to match my salary or provide a bump plus rsu’s. Keep in mind that to afford a place near the campus unless you’re a trust fund baby is highly unlikely
@deloitte4 is a head or vp of hr a feasible option?
How do you go about getting into industry - LinkedInhas jobs but doesn't seem to create a hook with employers. Are there any well known recruitment consultants any of you know who can help with placement in industry?
@BCBS what is HCSC?
@deloitte4 how do you know which startups are hiring for human capital? What sources should one explore?
Agree D6...you’re probably looking for some kind of internal consulting role as opposed to a senior HR role depending on the level...
