What are the ethical standards a corporation should use as it's North Star?

Should these standards govern how businesses treat employees, competitors, regulations, and/or lobbying activities?

It's different for every company...each company has its own unique mission and purpose, and has to define for itself what standards it should hold itself to (beyond the law). And part of that is understanding who its stakeholders are -- investors, employees, customers, government, for example, and how it will treat those stakeholders.

I think so Associate OP. I do believe we're going to see increased pressure on companies from all sides -- employees, customers, government regulators, press -- to offset each company's environmental impact.

Let’s say you have two young, high income partners in a couple who want to buy a house together but don’t really care to get married. They already live together in an apartment but both want to move to a house to build equity and have a yard, not share walls, etc. Should one partner buy the house and the other pays rent until they get married, or should they get a mortgage together without being married? I realize there isn’t a “right” answer but I’m interested in people’s experiences here.

Random thought... My gay male context plus the pandemic has amplified the "this isn't worth it" view of my unbalanced work life balance. I am never going to have kids and don't need to keep grinding for the next promotion etc. like my head of household peers with children. Do you feel the non-traditional household / income demands that LGBTQIA+ we live with are making you more easily say "enough is enough" with work as the valuation of our time has increased during the pandemic? 🤔
