What are your thoughts on perm temp type of roles? Am I shooting myself in the foot by taking on this type of role? I’m set for the rest of the year and hopefully 2025, but would it make sense to keep looking for a guaranteed full time permanent position or should I just be thankful I have a job for the next 7 months? I still have PTSD from getting laid off twice in the past few years.

Need some suggestions: My current company is on a layoff spree and 2 rounds are already done and I can foresee another round coming very soon.

While I am trying to switch to other companies, I’m not able to reveal the real reason from my side for the job change, as if I say, it’s because of layoff fears than it’ll reduce my negotiation power.

What other reasons can I give as I’ve just completed 9 months here and it’s too soon for any other company to take me in.

6 months pregnant and just laid off. And 40% of my severance was just taken in taxes .. I just spoke with paid family leave and I no longer qualify even though I had been paying into the program (thanks NY).. I already applied for unemployment but doctors are telling me I’ve got 10-14 weeks left in this pregnancy.. so stressed having twins and being unemployed, no maternity leave, no paychecks coming in, and I’ve been applying but not a single interview.. just ugh. 😭

The week of my wedding, my husband (PL SQL Developer 4 yoe) was laid off. That was a couple of weeks ago. After 6 years of temporary contracts and unstable situations, I find my dream job in my dream company. All of a sudden the world goes upside down and I get laid off. I start sending hundreds of applications, with only 2 recruiters getting back to me to say I don’t have experience for the job (this is how it works in Italy). Add a terrible health situation in my family and it seems there’s no light at the end of the tunnel. Ugh. 😞
