What do we mean by “stand up” in consulting? e.g. stand up a system, lead a team and stand up to client, daily team stand up? assuming they mean create, client facing, and meeting?

Can someone explain how billable hours work? At a new agency and although I had to fill timesheets at my previous agencies, they were mainly used to ensure we weren’t over servicing a client/for setting the appropriate retainer for contract renewals. I asked ppl at my agency but haven’t gotten a proper explanation. I get the impression that billing to the agency admin code isn’t recommended, and my manager said he bills everything to client codes, but that doesn’t make sense to me .

Is there a corporate way to bring up to senior leaders that an IC is causing issues across multiple teams because they are demanding and also doesn’t collaborate well? The IC gives vague “direction” then says they are too busy to clarify. They also refuse to use our project management/ collaboration tools.

But if you have a case study, for example, is it better to say "Client X increased their revenue to 1,000,000 ARR" instead of "Client X increased their revenue to 987,500 ARR" ? I’m probably just ignorant - but I feel like consulting has become a popular career path for undergrads in the last 10ish years. What was it like in the in the 80s, 90s or early 2000s? Was it considered to be a relatively high paying career like it now?

Quite a simple and probably stupid question, but if a company buys a machine for R&D, does the cost of the machine goes into the R&D expenses in the fin. Statements, or does it shows as depreciation during the lifespan?

If both, wouldn't this incur on counting the cost twice?
