I’m probably just ignorant - but I feel like consulting has become a popular career path for undergrads in the last 10ish years. What was it like in the in the 80s, 90s or early 2000s? Was it considered to be a relatively high paying career like it now?

Probably much more so than now.

In the 80s, I think the “top” jobs were IBM, Xerox, HP etc

I will admit I didn’t know what Consulting was when I interned in 2006.

Dat mystique

It paid better adjusting for inflation and cost of living. They weren’t anywhere near as big today. Only my banking friends in NYC made more.

80s, you went to law school. 90s started tech. Consulting is much bigger now. The market for consulting has just exposed and such they are recruiting much more. Now the demand exceeds the supply. Want like that in the 80s 90s or 2000s. I knew people who wanted to become consultants and couldn't get a job in it. Not the case now

I’m look to enter another area of Finance at this point instead of starting over somewhere else from scratch, but not sure what direction to go. Interested in Investment Banking or M&A.

Does anyone have any good (free) resources for construction detailing. I’m trying to move up in my career but struggling due to lack of mentorship//training (staff shortage, everyone is busy) I’m rarely taken on construction sites, and if I am It’s because I pushed for it. I’m a woman and often feel like people are rooting for me to fail or “man splaining.” I’m in the process of getting licensed - just having a hard time getting the actual experience I need to feel competent.

Is there such a thing as getting promoted TOO quickly? Just got the bump to AS after 10 months as an AE. Not at all typical at my agency (usually 5 to 8 YOE). I picked up a lot of opportunity after turnover last year. I am, of course, thrilled, but do wonder if it'd put the validity of my agency in question when looking at my resume. Am I crazy? I'm probably crazy.

I have been offered a position at a non-US B4 with a 2 year path to partner. I know one of the partners at the local firm and have the support of the regional service line lead, and am bringing a specialized skill set they are trying to open a new business around. The KPIs seem achievable and I’ll be in charm school to help build support within that timeline. Most of me thinks a 2 year path under these circumstances realistic but my inner skeptic is jaded. Anything I might have missed?

Hi,
I'm currently having an offer from BlueOptima and Cohesity and am conflicted between the two.
I have offers in the SDET profile.
Cohesity Inc is providing me MTS and @BlueOptima is providing SDET-1.

Glassdoor reviews more of less place the two companies almost equally, and the package being offered by the two is almost in the same range.
My preferences include:
Learning opportunities in the role.
Company's work environment.
Company's growth prospects, are also a consideration.
YOE: 2 years

Has anyone reevaluated their retirement methods after a life-altering experience? So, I started investing a lot less. But I always see people on here talking about all of these retirement schemes (backdoor Roth, mega-backdoor Roth, etc.) and I’m wondering if there’s a happy middle ground somewhere.
