What do you all do for work to become a digital nomad and how did you get started?

I am a financial analyst and been in finance 6 years. I want a change in career to move to SAP analyst roles, potentially doing SAP certifications as I like problem solving, solutions etc. I am not sure where to start and how to make the change. Any suggestions welcome.

Foreign LLM student here. I plan to take the NY bar exam in February. I’m thinking of taking a bar prep course (most likely Barbri). They offer two options: the “traditional” course (which lasts around 2.5 months) and an extended 6-month course. The difference in price is substantial – 2.5k for the traditional course vs 6k for the extended one. Any thoughts/recommendations on which one I should take? Recently, i was "promoted" or, I should say, my title was changed to the next ring up the ladder. As a part of this, I went from reporting to Senior Management, to Junior Management. The Jr. Manager has good intentions, but, is not helpful. I've worked at the company longer, have accomplished more across multiple lines of business and have a much stronger internal network. Am I overreacting thinking this is a major slight that will ultimately slow down my growth within the company?

If you are fresher, go for a WF Office setup. You will learn things beyond your work. In the initial phase of of your career, one needs to focus more on learning than on comfort. The interactions at office, meeting with collegues, conversations at the cafeteria, sense of responsibilty, the need to walk up on time to reach office etc will shape you for better.

Once you have a work experience of few year then any setup is fine. Go for WFH.

Outside counsel has been prepping company witnesses for a trial in August. It is my subject area so I am supervising outside counsel. I did not, however, choose the counsel. He is doing a really awful job. Co counsel is better, but not great either. Higher ups love the firm… I do not want to micromanage, but I have genuine concerns about outside counsel’s ability to try this case. Trials are rare, and I just don’t think these guys have actually tried many cases. Cont. below…

If you’re working remote and your tourist visa is valid, does your employer really need to know for tax purposes that you weren’t in the US? For example if you fill out your local taxes saying you were home 12 months, but you really spent 6 months in Europe.

Last week I worked remote from a Royal Caribbean cruise so here are my learnings:
The internet had a max of 3.7 Mbps which meant I had my video off the whole time. I had one call completely drop in 5 days, so all in all not bad. None of my coworkers seemed to notice or care very much. In a couple weeks, I try Holland America so hopefully it’s the same or better! I would love to hear other cruise experience or tips
