Why are lawyers less friendly as colleagues than non-lawyers? I’ve worked both in-house and in firms and noticed lawyers tend to ignore each other. Compared to the multiple corporate events and initiatives that was quite a choc when I realized people in BL just come to the office, sit down, work and leave without even trying to have a conversation.

So my VP at my previous company felt bad and refused to speak to me or attend my farewell after my resignation. His reason was that I somehow betrayed his trust as he had promoted me just last year (after keeping the position open for 4 months and letting me take additional work load after the previous SM left!). Does anyone have any advice on how to deal with discrimination as an Asian in the workplace? In my company it seems like it’s a white boys club where and they just promote white ppl because they’re white. And then they have a lower bar for promotions for minorities (traditional minorities likes Hispanics and African Americans). Meanwhile they make Asians do all the work. I am not generalizing that this is how it is everywhere but it definitely is that way in my workplace. Any advice?
