Recruiter here! A few points:
First, I try hard not to email candidates who lateraled in the last 12-14 months so I’m sorry people are hitting you up.
You don’t need to respond. I always appreciate a response but it’s not expected!
If your bio is broad, I like when candidates respond and tell me exactly what they do. That way I can tailor future emails to their specific area.
I recommend saving well thought out emails for potential future use. Just put in a folder.

It's really weird, I started getting emails my second week at the firm. A lot of the emails aren't even addressed to me directly, and some are for positions that have nothing to do with my practice area.
