Why would you ever want to rollover your 401K into an IRA? It seems like doing so would essentially prevent you from successfully being able to do a IRA to Backdoor Roth IRA conversion due to the pro-rata rule. Am I missing something? Wouldn’t you always want to just rollover your old 401Ks to your new 401K?

Reviewed a few case studies and have taken financial modeling courses but am looking to see if anyone can point me to any resources outside of that.
