Deloitte experienced hires, who all received written offers and in process of visa/ onboarding, have you heard back anything about hiring freeze? Or recruiter asked you to delay joining date?
My visa got submitted couple of days back and waiting for decision. When I reached out to recruiter to give her an update and mentioned once there’s decision will discuss on the start date before putting my 2 weeks, she mentioned “Yes, we should talk before you put notice” - Am I overthinking? You can't be serious.
Managing Directors response. Epic!!!
If you call the receptionist you get HR and they give the dates of employment. If you call your frat brother who is an audit partner do you think he sends you to HR? Nothing written but you don't get the offer. For $500. That is how the real world works. #micdrop
Since you may be serious, note a few things to consider. 1. You applied for the card so it is your responsibility to pay the charges. 2. Defaulting and leaving your former employer holding the bag is just stupid - don't you intend to include this position on your resume? Do you think this escape of $500 is worth the risk? Why is this even something you are considering if the company will reimburse you? What this will do is piss off the people who may have the chance to impact your career .
Your credit gets fucked up for starters
#dilusional do you really think we don't talk to former employers? We all know someone we trust where you used to work.
And cards are registered under your name
I worked in HR and I know that we don't have to say why we pass on a candidate and never get sued for not hiring someone that just isn't the right fit. I am an attorney as well. You don't know more than I do on this. Point remains if your judgment is to try and skip on a $500 credit card bill you do so at your own peril.
It will be taken off of your last paycheck
Bad idea.
^companies will only confirm employment. Nobody actually gives references anymore because of potential lawsuits. All the company will do is confirm the periods that you worked at the company. With that said it's incredibly stupid to do and karma will come back to bite you in the ass.
SS1.. Mamahing Director is right. Nothing has to be written. Unofficial comments are enough to have companies decline a candidate. I have witnessed an HR person contact his college roomate to get unofficial info on a candidate.
Goes against your PTO payout I'm sure
Just not smart
If the charges are personal, its taken out of your last paycheck
They could go after you but usually don't because it's not worth the trouble. It's happened before.
Your credit doesn't get fucked because you're never delinquent because the firm repays it. At PwC, since AmEx is a client the firm pays off 100% of card balances so as to not impair independence. Therefore, you've got nothing to pay off from AmEx and nothing for AmEx to report to credit agencies technically the firm could sue you, but their lawyers fees would be many times in excess of what you owe them. I'd imagine they will just let you walk because it's not worth the effort on their part.
Not sure how Deloitte works, but I'm guessing it's similar
And ssn
^sure you do. The B4 offices in large cities have thousands of employees. Good luck finding that needle in a haystack. Even then, the comments will be off the record. Just try to give a bad referral on the record and see how quickly your firm gets sued.
