Got laid off in tech corp dev making 250-300 all in. Have an offer to join a fairly new family office investment team in PE buyouts but will be a fairly significant cash pay cut vs what I was making in tech corp dev. I’ve always been interested in doing investing. All things being equal, is there better upside to take the fam office to do PE (at a pay cut for now), or go do another corp dev job? 6-7 YOE

Has anyone gone from a federal gov’t employee to private industry? I’m considering making the swap for better pay, I make decent money where I’m at and I know I have job security. Just trying to see if there is anyone else that was bold enough to make the leap.

Is it worth considering a career in Restructuring Consulting in the long term given that their work can be quite cyclical and hinges on the spectrum of the economy.

Can anyone let me know how easy it is to apply to a consulting firm in Dubai directly coming from London? Foreign LLM student here. I plan to take the NY bar exam in February. I’m thinking of taking a bar prep course (most likely Barbri). They offer two options: the “traditional” course (which lasts around 2.5 months) and an extended 6-month course. The difference in price is substantial – 2.5k for the traditional course vs 6k for the extended one. Any thoughts/recommendations on which one I should take? Just walked out of FAR test, literally cried after submitting it. SIMS were something I got ripped off by, can say clearly 4 out of 8 sims I kind of missed completely...😭😭😭 don’t know if I can ever get over this
