What is a good OTE for a customer success manager located in SLC exiting Salesforce with three years of experience in strategic customer success. I am seeing initial offers ranging from $100k OTE to $160k. Salesforce Adobe Microsoft Qualtrics Celonis Inc

With 3 years of experience, look for roles that are posting for a Senior Customer Success Manager or Manager, Customer Success (assuming you’re open to management), which will generally pay more. At my previous company (small Salesforce ISV), the range for CSMs was 90-120k OTE depending on how well you negotiated. The range at my current company (larger ISV) is very similar, but it’s all base salary and the benefits are better. As you probably already know, bonuses are taxed much more heavily and are subject to change at any time so ideally look for a role where the base salary meets your minimum total comp number.

160k is the highest number I’ve ever heard for an IC CSM role. I’m curious about the details of that offer (how much of it is incentive) and how realistic the targets are.

I just left a CSM role. OTE was $150k but it was a 70/30 split and potential to far exceed the $150 with the commission component. I usually overachieved but it came at the price of extreme burnout. Now I’m at LinkedIn where it’s all base and small bonus but the culture and work life balance are more valuable to me than where I was.
