How do we feel about a junior associate pulling up in a nice car? Does the old adage about having a worse car then your boss still apply?

Who cares about this sort of thing

like

Yeah, this job is rough enough without worrying about this kind of stuff.

I have a moderately nice car, I doubt anyone even knows. I park in the parking garage and go upstairs, nobody ever sees me getting into or out of my car. I doubt it matters, how you spend your money is up to you

likesmart

I don’t think it matters. I might possibly have a nicer car than a partner, but they make millions, so I don’t think there’s any risk the partner will be upset

like

Idgaf. Drive what you want to drive. It’s your money.

like

Nice as in a m2 or similar not a lambo or similar

like

I’m Team Camry for life, but I don’t give two shits what my colleagues want to drive. Definitely wouldn’t care about a M2. This job sucks a lot of the time, so if a lambo or a Maserati or whatever makes you happy, go for it.

“We” don’t feel any type of way. YOU on the other hand…

funnylike

Go mad - drive what you want. If you rocked a 30 carat pink diamond engagement ring, people might be a bit surprised; an M2 is very much within the realms of what your salary can stretch to, so go for it.

What on earth. I know a junior associate who has a Tesla because her parents are rich. Some people will look at it a certain way I guess, but who cares what they think.

like

Tesla not even that expensive plus u save on gas

Considering that my boss lives in the city and to my knowledge doesn’t drive or own a car, I think this is a silly rule.

The hostility on my team is rough. We have a yeller. I walked by her room the other day. She was screaming across the room at a student, "you have to be kind to get kindness." Seriously, those were her words in a loud, berating, angry tone. Our admin has asked that we not report these. We are to talk to the teacher. She has yelled at me and other adults. Admin has to know she treats the kids this way too. One teacher has to work with her door closed to not hear the yelling all day.

Hi Fishes,
I recently got shortlisted for a Product Manager position at Tracxn. There’s also an IPO coming up which is the reason I had applied.
But I have read some horrifying reviews about the company on Glassdoor, indeed and other forums.

I’m wondering whether it’s worth going through the interview process and I’d also like to hear opinions from anyone who has worked with the company or is aware of the company culture.

Thanks.

I'm a Canadian on the TN visa working in the US and planning on maxing my Roth IRA (6k) and will have enough left to max my 401k this year, but am not sure if I should just use a taxable account over 401k due to tax considerations when I move back to Canada (likely 1-2 years from now). Any thoughts here? I don't think I'll have enough RRSP room to move 401k>IRA>RRSP and I would prefer to not have to file US taxes every year in retirement for withdrawls if I left the 401k in the US.

Any Atomic Habit readers here? I’m brainstorming identity-based habits for two things I want to change:

Neither of these feel that helpful. Any one have suggestions for other identity-based goals that get at these changes I want to make?
