A&M has a total comp structure where your utilisation is tied to your TC - your base and bonus are back solved from that. Alix is more typical with a base and bonus as a %.
A&M has more volatility in TC than Alix ie the highs are higher but the lows are lower. You can earn more at A&M but it’s very eat what you kill, Alix is more reliable.
I was at A&M back in 2021 as a Senior Associate, my base was 130,000 and based on being 100% utilized that year my total comp was $250,000 The next year was more lean, was about 50% utilized so tc ended up being 150,000. So very big swings
I was in NACR
The base salary is way lower than Alix, about $30–40K difference from peers I know at Alix, but A&M has better bonus potential. If you perform well A&M will pay better, but in a down year you might not even hit $200K.
That sounds terrifying.
